英语引号的用法

以下是英语引号的主要用法：

1) 用于标出直接引语
"We have a lot to do next year,” the product manager said. 产品经理说，我们明天有很多事情要做。
In her diary, Linda wrote, “I won’t forgive him forever!” 琳达在她的日记中写道，“我永远也不会原谅他！”
He had a lazy stretch and then said, "We'll think about it later." 他伸了一个大懒腰，然后才说：“这事我们迟点会考虑的。”

[注] 如果引语中包含另一个引语，则用单引号, 如:
George explain, “I heard someone shouted, ‘Watch your head!’ at the moment.” 乔治解释说，“我当时听到有人喊道：‘小心别撞到头！’”

2) 用于书名、剧名、文章题目、发言题目等。注意这点与中文不同，中文中是用书名号《》　　　
The novel "War and Peace" was written by Leo Tolstoy in 1805. 小说《战争与和平》由托尔斯泰写于1805年。

3) 引起注意或强调
The noun "machine" is the subject of the sentence, and is modified by a subordinate clause. 名词“machine” 是句子的主语，被定语从句修饰。

4) 表示反语、讽刺
The "lost" money turned out to be in the safe all the time. “丢掉”的钱原来一直就在保险箱里。
