incident 和 accident 的区别

上期的区别近义词我们弄懂了award和reward的区别，大家还记得吗？今天我们要区分的是incident和accident。

1. 首先看accident：
① 意外事故；不测事件（an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury）
② 意外的事，偶然的事（an event that happens by chance or that is without apparent or deliberate cause）
发现了吗？accident英文解释为“不幸的incident”，即不好的事件，特别是没有预料到的、无意识的以及造成（人或财务）伤亡和损失的事件；也可指偶然发生的、无明确原因的事件。

2. incident与accident一样为名词，但是还可以做形容词

事件，事情（an event or occurrence）
* adjective
因...易发生的；由...产生的（【词组：incident to】liable to happen; because of; resulting from）
而incident英文解释直接是“事件”，一般指不好的事件为多，但是不局限于此。Incident既可能是小事件也可能是大事件，可以指突发的事件，或者是政治或国际上具有影响力的事件或事变。

总结： accident一般是指不好的、意料之外的非主观事件，即“意外的事故、故障”。如：Numerous traffic accidents take place every year. （每年都有不少交通事故发生。）
而incident的范围就更广泛一些，指一切事件（可好可坏、有小有大）。如
The school has notified all parents and guardians of the incident which happened on 14 March. （校方已经告知了所有家长以及监护人3月14日发生的这件事。）
